FLA Applauds Senate Agriculture Committee Passage of 2026 Farm Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Forest Landowners Association applauds the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry for advancing the Agricultural Act of 2026, an important step toward delivering a new Farm Bill for farmers, ranchers, forest landowners, and rural communities across the country.

FLA is particularly grateful to Chairman John Boozman (R-AR) for including a provision supported by FLA to codify timber’s eligibility for disaster assistance through USDA block grants, along with other critical tools and programs that support private forest landowners and their working forests. The provision builds on bipartisan efforts led by Senators Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) and Raphael Warnock (D-GA) to ensure timber producers have access to disaster assistance following hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, floods, and other natural disasters.

“America’s family forestry businesses and private forest landowners face growing challenges, from natural disasters and changing markets to rising costs and uncertainty,” said Craig Anderson, Vice President of Government Affairs for the Forest Landowners Association. “We appreciate Chairman Boozman’s leadership in advancing a Farm Bill that recognizes the important role working forests play in rural communities and our nation’s economy. Codifying timber’s eligibility for disaster block grants is an important step toward ensuring forest landowners have meaningful tools to recover when disaster strikes.”

“The work, however, is not finished. Rural America and our nation’s working forests need the certainty that only a new Farm Bill can provide. We urge Congress to build on this progress, work across party lines, and send a bipartisan Farm Bill to the President before the end of the year.”

The Forest Landowners Association looks forward to continuing to work with Chairman Boozman, members of the Senate and House Agriculture Committees, the Administration, and rural partners to advance a Farm Bill that supports private forest landowners, strengthens rural communities, and keeps America’s working forests healthy, productive, and resilient for generations to come.
