FLA Thanks Arkansas Congressional Delegation for Defending America’s Working Forests

Washington, D.C. — The Forest Landowners Association (FLA) is grateful for the Arkansas Congressional Delegation for their strong leadership in standing up for America’s working forests and pushing back against misguided regulations such as the European Union’s Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

FLA views the EUDR as a direct violation of private property rights and an intentional barrier to U.S. access to European markets. This policy is fundamentally misaligned with reality: the United States is not a driver of global deforestation. In fact, America’s privately owned forests are internationally recognized as the green standard for sustainable management, supported by generations of responsible stewardship and best management practices.

“We appreciate the Arkansas delegation’s commitment to ensuring that our forest landowners are treated fairly in global commerce,” said Craig Anderson, FLA’s VP of Government Affairs. “The EUDR imposes burdensome and unjustified requirements on American producers despite the United States being a global model for sustainable forestry.”

FLA looks forward to working closely with Congress and the Trump Administration to oppose unfair trade practices like the EUDR and to ensure that American forest landowners and timber producers have fair, reliable access to markets that are essential to the long-term health, productivity, and competitiveness of America’s working forests.
