Online Learning Session: International Paper’s ForSite® Mapping Tool: Demonstrating Responsible Fiber Sourcing and Sustainable Forest Management Throughout the Supply Chain

September 25 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

In 2015, International Paper (IP) developed a GIS-based mapping platform to identify environmental risks within their fiber procurement supply chain. What started as a pilot project in the Southeastern United States, evolved into a large-scale mapping and due diligence system called ForSite® that fundamentally changed the way IP procures fiber.  Similar to approaches found in forest management certification standards, ForSite® ensures that conservation practices are incorporated pre-purchase. Over the years, IP’s approach has resulted in demonstrating successful risk mitigation to their stakeholders while supporting and promoting private forest landowners and working forests. ForSite® continues to be enthusiastically received by IP’s end customers, and conservation organizations and was recently awarded ESRI’s Special Achievement in GIS.
