Landowner Learning Session: Decoding the Chevron Doctrine

August 22 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

On June 28th, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in a landmark decision to overturn the Chevron Doctrine, which for 40 years gave federal agencies the authority to interpret ambiguous language from Congress when crafting regulations. This decision marks a significant change in the regulatory landscape, especially for environmental regulations that may impact forest landowners. In this Landowner Learning Session, hear from Charles Yates, attorney in Pacific Legal Foundation’s environmental practice group, about the history of the Chevron Doctrine and how this decision by the Supreme Court may change how Congress, the agencies, and the courts approach environmental laws and regulations moving forward.
